Presentation
Dear Members and Friends of SIDO,
it is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the 56th SIDO International Congress, in the prestigious setting of the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, from November 20 to 22, 2025. The theme of the Congress is highly relevant and carries significant clinical implications: Personalized and Patient-Centered Orthodontics for Effective, Efficient, and Safe Patient Care.
Thursday, November 20, will be devoted to the traditional pre-congress courses, featuring two full-day courses: one led by Luis Carrière and Ana Maria Cantor, and the other by Benedict Wilmes. In addition, two hands-on practical courses specifically designed for younger colleagues will be offered: one organized in collaboration with the Italian Society of Biomechanics and Segmented Orthodontics (SIBOS) on uprighting in orthodontics, and the other dedicated to in-house aligners for the treatment of lower incisor crowding. The day will conclude with the Opening Ceremony, followed by a Lectio Magistralis by Dr. Nikolaos Pandis, Editor-in-Chief of Progress in Orthodontics, and a Welcome Reception in the Trade Exhibition.
The scientific program, on Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22, will unfold across two main lecture halls:
- Personalized and Patient-Centered Orthodontics (Friday, November 21, and Saturday, November 22 – Cavaniglia Hall), focusing on the role of individual characteristics — such as treatment timing and patient-specific response — and on the active involvement of the patient in selecting the most appropriate therapy. The aim is to achieve the most efficient biomechanics and appliance design, an optimal cost-benefit balance, full esthetic and functional satisfaction, and a positive impact on the overall quality of life.
- Treatment with Aligners: What Can We Really Expect? (Friday, November 21 – Nazioni Hall), a clinical-scientific discussion based on the findings of an International Delphi Study (Consensus Conference), following the successful format introduced at the Spring Meeting. Once again, the Delphi Study will provide authoritative guidance for our members, a solid reference for speakers, and a valuable foundation for in-depth discussion.
On Saturday morning, a Multidisciplinary SIDO–SIdP Course on the Treatment of the Gummy Smile will bring together and compare orthodontic, periodontal, restorative, and maxillofacial surgical approaches. Throughout all sessions, participants will be encouraged to interact directly with the speakers through the App SIDO Eventi, submitting questions and actively contributing to the discussion facilitated by Moderators.
Special attention will be dedicated to young professionals, with initiatives developed by the SIDO Young Committee to foster their enthusiasm and support their professional growth. And of course… there will be no shortage of social events! The President’s Reception and the SIDO Party will be held in the evocative setting of Stazione Leopolda, offering a vibrant and elegant atmosphere to celebrate together.
I wish you all to live a memorable Congress rich in content, exchange, and inspiration. It will be a valuable opportunity to share experiences, grow professionally, and strengthen our sense of community.
