Susan Cunningham graduated from Leeds University and her orthodontic training was undertaken at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. She is now Professor of Orthodontics/ Honorary Consultant at the UCL Eastman Dental Institute and is Programme Director of the postgraduate orthodontic programme. She is involved in all aspects of postgraduate orthodontic education in the UK. She has previously held roles as Director of Education and Director of Research of the British Orthodontic Society. She was also previously honorary secretary of the European Orthodontic Society until 2020. Her main research interests are in the psychology of dentofacial discrepancies and the outcomes of orthodontic and orthognathic treatment. She has published 140 original research papers and contributed to a number of specialist textbooks.
