Abstract

Deepbite Treatment with Aligners: how to increase predictability and efficiency?

by Greco Alessandro Mario

Deepbite treatment represents one of the most complex malocclusion to be treated with aligners. The so called bite block effect exerted by the thickness of the plastic, really useful in the management of excessive vertical, is not a favorable condition in case of deepbite treatment with aligners. To this purpose in order to make the deepbite treatment more predicare and efficient, it's necessary to develop some considerations both diagnostic both therapeutic like the Spee curve leveling, upper and lower incisors torque expression in order to correct the keypoints of the deepbite malocclusion and combine the proper auxiliaries needed to reach two fundamental goals: creating an occlusal space (bite ramps) necessary for posterior extrusion and inter maxillary elastics to favor the molar and premolar extrusion. The main goal of this approach is based on the development of a clockwise mandibular rotation induced by posterior extrusive mechanics and the anterior upper and lower torque expression.
